Rewired" at the Hard Rock Café Boston Grand Opening Last Night 2/11/11

The year 2010 may be remembered as the one when dance music made a return to the mainstream. And here's an omen that 2011 will see the trend grow: Rewired, the first club night at the Hard Rock Café Boston (22-24 Clinton Street, Boston, 617.424.7625), a mass-appeal tourist mecca with a permanent display of artifacts from commercial rock artists. Leading the party is DJ Joe Bermudez, whose work melds Top 40 pop with house-style dance. (He's remixed everyone from Rihanna to Katy Perry.) And the Hard Rock hasn't just been rewired, but restructured: a new side entrance ushers guests directly into the Cavern Club space, now outfitted with plush booths and a new lighting system. The adjacent green room, a pre-performance space where acts like Aerosmith relaxed before taking the stage, is now a special VIP area where about 100 lucky partiers (selected through promos or handpicked for hotness) can escape from the dance floor with a flat-screen TV, an Xbox 360, and private wait service. Consider it a dance revolution. Cover is $10.
